Getting Started

TalkCue is designed for creators, influencers, sales professionals, executives, presenters, educators, performers, coaches, and anyone who wants to communicate confidently without losing their place.

Use TalkCue to:

• Deliver a prepared script naturally
• Rehearse a speech, pitch, keynote, or presentation
• Record sales, training, social, or executive videos
• Capture an idea by speaking in Freestyle
• Turn a recording’s transcript into a reusable script
• Create captioned videos and SRT subtitle files
• Translate scripts and captions into supported languages

Scripts

Create, import, edit, duplicate, translate, and manage your scripts. From a script, choose Prompt to use the standard teleprompter or Record to create a scripted video.

Record

• Scripted: Record using an existing script with Voice Follow and Cue Jump.
• Freestyle: Record without a prepared script and capture your speech as a transcript.

Videos

Review and manage recordings saved in TalkCue. You can rename, favorite, share, save to Photos, edit the transcript, create captions, export subtitles, or delete a video.

Settings

Manage recording defaults, appearance, purchases, help, privacy, and other preferences.

Voice Follow

Voice Follow moves through your script as you speak. It adapts to your natural delivery instead of forcing you to follow a fixed scrolling speed.

For best results:

• Speak clearly and naturally
• Select the correct script language
• Keep the microphone reasonably close to your voice
• Reduce competing voices and loud background audio when possible
• Confirm that Microphone and Speech Recognition permissions are enabled

If you prefer fixed scrolling, turn Voice Follow off and use Manual mode.

Cue Jump

Cue Jump lets you move to a saved section of your script by speaking its cue phrase.

For reliable Cue Jump behavior:

• Use distinctive phrases of approximately two to five words
• Avoid common single words or phrases repeated throughout the script
• Speak the phrase naturally
• Confirm that Cue Jump and Voice Follow are enabled
• Check that the intended direction—Forward, Backward, or Both—is selected

TalkCue will not jump when the matching cue phrase is already visible on the screen.

Recording Videos

TalkCue supports Scripted and Freestyle recording with the front or rear camera.

During Scripted recording, your script appears over the live camera preview. The saved video contains the camera image and microphone audio only. Teleprompter text, timers, indicators, and controls are not included in the finished recording.

You can choose:

• 720p or 1080p video
• Front or rear camera
• Countdown length
• Default or minimized controls
• Voice Follow and Cue Jump options for Scripted recording

After recording, review the take and choose Save Video or Retake.

Recording with AirPods

TalkCue works with your device’s built-in microphone or connected AirPods.

AirPods can keep the microphone closer to your voice when the iPhone or iPad is positioned farther away. This is useful when framing a wider shot, recording from across a room, standing at a presentation distance, or moving while speaking.

For best results:

• Connect your AirPods before beginning
• Confirm that iOS or iPadOS is using them as the active audio input
• Keep the selected AirPod securely positioned
• Make a short test recording before an important session
• If the connection changes, stop and verify the audio route before continuing

AirPods are optional. TalkCue also works with the device’s built-in microphone.

Freestyle Recording and Transcripts

Freestyle lets you record first without preparing a script.

After saving the video, open Edit Transcript to review and correct the captured text. Editing the transcript does not change the original video or permanently replace the original captured speech.

Choose:

• Done to save the edited transcript to the video
• Save to New Script to save the transcript and create an independent script in Scripts
• Revert to Original to restore the current draft to the captured transcript before saving

This workflow is useful for developing speeches, pitches, sales scripts, presentations, lessons, and social-video ideas from natural speech.

Captions and SRT Export

From a saved video, choose Captions & Export.

Depending on the recording and available speech timing, you can:

• Preview original captions
• Add a translated caption track
• Edit translated caption text
• Export an SRT subtitle file
• Create a video with readable captions included
• Share the selected output

TalkCue bases captions on what was actually spoken—not simply every word in the prepared script. Ordinary transcript corrections remain available for caption export, with captured timing preserved or adjusted when possible.

If captions are unavailable, the recording may not contain sufficient timed speech information to create reliable subtitles.

Supported Translation Languages

TalkCue supports script and caption translation among these eight languages:

• English
• Spanish
• French
• German
• Italian
• Portuguese
• Dutch
• Swedish

Availability may vary depending on your device, operating system, installed language resources, and Apple Translation support.

Translated captions preserve the timing of the original caption track. TalkCue translates text; it does not create dubbed or translated audio.

Video Playback and Management

The Videos library lets you:

• Search saved recordings
• Filter Scripted, Freestyle, and favorite videos
• Sort by date, title, or duration
• Rename or favorite a video
• Share a recording
• Save a copy to Photos
• Edit its transcript
• Create captions or subtitle files
• Delete the TalkCue copy

Deleting a video from TalkCue does not delete a separate copy previously saved to Photos. Deleting a script does not automatically delete its recordings.

Common Troubleshooting

Voice Follow is not responding

• Verify Microphone and Speech Recognition permissions
• Confirm that Voice Follow is turned on
• Check the selected script language
• Pause and resume the prompt
• Close and reopen the prompting session if needed
• Test in a quieter environment or move the microphone closer

Cue Jump is not triggering

• Confirm that Voice Follow and Cue Jump are enabled
• Check the selected Cue Jump direction
• Use a distinctive multiword cue phrase
• Confirm that the destination phrase is not already visible
• Try speaking the phrase again as a new utterance

Camera or microphone is unavailable

Open the Settings app, find TalkCue, and confirm the required Camera, Microphone, and Speech Recognition permissions.

If another app is actively using the camera or microphone, close that app and try again.

AirPods are not being used

• Confirm that the AirPods are connected in iOS or iPadOS
• Check the active audio route in Control Center
• Disconnect and reconnect the AirPods
• Return to TalkCue and make a short test recording
• If problems continue, use the device microphone and restart the recording session

No transcript was created

Speech Recognition may have been unavailable, interrupted, denied permission, or unable to identify sufficient speech. The video may still be usable even when transcription fails.

Captions are unavailable

Reliable captions require timed speech information. Captions may be unavailable if speech recognition failed, the recording contained no identifiable speech, or the required language service was unavailable.

An export fails

• Confirm that the device has sufficient free storage
• Keep TalkCue open while the export completes
• Try exporting again
• Restart TalkCue if an interrupted export does not recover
• For large videos, allow additional processing time

Unexpected captions appear during playback

TalkCue controls its own Original and translated caption tracks. System-wide iOS Live Captions are controlled through device accessibility settings and may appear independently of TalkCue.

Purchases and TalkCue Pro

TalkCue Pro includes Voice Follow, Cue Jump, recording, transcription, script translation, captions, SRT export, and captioned-video export.

If a purchase is not recognized:

1. Open Settings in TalkCue.
2. Select Restore Purchases.
3. Confirm that the device is signed in with the Apple Account used for the purchase.
4. Allow time for Apple to verify the transaction.

Subscriptions are managed through Apple. Existing lifetime purchases remain lifetime access.

Ending a subscription does not delete existing scripts, videos, or transcripts. Existing recordings remain available for playback and management.

Privacy and Your Content

Your scripts, recordings, transcripts, and captions may contain private or sensitive information. Only share or export content when you intend to send it outside TalkCue.

Speech recognition and translation availability may depend on Apple services, device settings, installed language resources, and network availability.
